Protecting and Warding: Essential Oils for Creating Magickal Shields

By admin

Oils have been used for centuries in different cultures for various purposes, including magic. These oils, also known as magical or ritual oils, are believed to possess spiritual properties that can be harnessed to enhance or manifest one's desires and intentions. Different oils are associated with different magical properties and energies. For example, lavender oil is often used for relaxation and calming purposes, while rose oil is used for love and attraction spells. Each oil is believed to have its own unique vibrational frequency, which is why specific oils are chosen for different magical purposes. To create magical oils, various methods can be used.

A faithless curse

To create magical oils, various methods can be used. One common method is infusing herbs, flowers, or other natural ingredients into a carrier oil such as olive oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil. The ingredients are typically charged and blessed through prayers or rituals before being sealed and left to infuse for a specific period of time.

How would you play a faithless cleric?

While I acknowledge that this might be based on a misunderstanding of how clerics get their powers, I haven't read anywhere stating that the character had to be willing or devoted to a god to gain such power, only that it must be the god's choice to grant it unto them (much like how an aasimar doesn't choose to be born as such). If I understand correctly, this would mean that the relationship between them and their god doesn't have to be one of subservience, but could be more of a boon bestowed on them similar to how a Divine Soul Sorcerer gains their powers, or the blessings of a meddling patron such as with a Celestial Warlock.

Following that line of reasoning, I wanted to create not necessarily an atheist cleric, but one that might be at odds with their patron deity. Something like a lawful good charlatan (Robin Hood type) blessed by the Traveler for all their good work, or a chaotic good outlander who left the church of Tyr but still received his blessing. An emo kid blessed by Appolo.

In either case, I was wondering how to balance such a character so that their levelled spells are only used as a last resort (if at all) without pissing off the party? Admittedly, I can focus on the martial aspect of the build and use cantrips/channel divinities as subconscious acts (such as casting Guidance with a turn of phrase) but I think this build would be too much of an ask on the party if I just present it as a lesser fighter using half their class.

Once the oil is infused, it can be used in a variety of magical practices. It can be worn on the body, applied to candles, added to bathwater, or used to anoint objects or talismans. The act of anointing with magical oil is believed to imbue the object or person with the desired energy or intention. In addition to their magical properties, oils also have a strong connection to our sense of smell. Aromatherapy, which involves the use of essential oils for therapeutic purposes, can also be incorporated into magical practices. The scent of the oil can help enhance the magical experience and create a deeper connection with the desired outcome. It is important to note that magical oils are not a substitute for personal effort and intention. They are tools that can be used to enhance or focus one's energy and intentions. It is the combination of the individual's intention, belief, and energy with the properties of the oil that creates the magic. When using magical oils, it is essential to respect the ingredients and their spiritual significance. It is recommended to research and understand the properties of each oil before using it in magical practices. Additionally, obtaining oils from reputable sources ensures their authenticity and quality. In conclusion, oils have a long history of being used in magical practices. These oils are believed to possess spiritual properties that can be harnessed to enhance or manifest one's desires and intentions. Whether used for relaxation, love, protection, or any other purpose, magical oils are tools that can deepen the connection with our desires and help manifest positive change in our lives..

Reviews for "Enchanting Dreams: Using Essential Oils to Enhance and Influence the Dreamworld"

1. Sarah - 2/5 - I was really excited to try "Oils for Magic" as I had heard so many positive things about it. However, I was left disappointed. The book lacked clear instructions and concrete examples of how to use the oils in magic spells. It felt more like a collection of random oil recipes without any guidance on how to incorporate them into my practice. The lack of organization and structure made it difficult for me to truly understand and utilize the information provided. Overall, I found "Oils for Magic" to be a confusing and underwhelming read.
2. Mike - 1/5 - "Oils for Magic" was not what I expected at all. The book promised to provide practical and effective ways to use oils in magic, but it fell short on both counts. The recipes were either too complicated for a beginner like myself or too basic for someone with more experience. Additionally, the book lacked any in-depth explanations or theories behind the use of oils in magic, making it feel shallow and superficial. I was hoping for a comprehensive guide, but instead, I found "Oils for Magic" to be a poorly executed book that failed to deliver on its promises.
3. Emily - 2/5 - As someone who has been practicing magic for a while, I was hoping "Oils for Magic" would provide me with new insights and creative ways to incorporate oils into my craft. Unfortunately, the book fell short of my expectations. The information presented was mostly generic and readily available in other resources. I was hoping for unique and innovative approaches to the use of oils, but instead, I found repetitive and unoriginal content. The lack of originality and depth in "Oils for Magic" left me feeling unsatisfied and like I wasted my time and money.
